Located in Deer Isle, Maine, this is a beautiful coastal community, just east of Penobscot Bay along the Eggemoggin Reach. In our work and in our personal lives, we are fortunate to take advantage of the picturesque beaches, trails and historical landmarks on the island.
We prioritize social and emotional development of students by fostering positive relationship building and are working to create a school culture that balances empathy and accountability. The classroom experience is designed to inspire engagement, ensure growth and promote social and academic learning. We have extensive nature trails, an active garden/greenhouse program, a vibrant after school program, and a state of the art performing arts center. Our building is beautiful and warm with hallways full of art from local artists. We are looking for someone to join a dynamic team and make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
Job Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and service of meals.
Assist in cleaning the kitchen and lunchroom.
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and efficient kitchen
Perform other reasonable and related duties as may be assigned by the head cook.
In the absence of the Head Cook, the Assistant Cook will assume the Head Cook’s responsibilities.
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a positive work ethic.
Must be dependable and able to work without direct supervision.
Ability to work as part of a team and maintain positive relationships with co-workers.
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Criminal History Record Check
