The book is out! We wrote a powerful chapter on youth activism through film, and I’m so glad to have been part of it all. When I joined the Inheritance Baltimore team in 2021 as a Postdoc with the Program in Racism, Immigration and Citizenship (now the Chloe Center for the Critical Study of Racism, Immigration and Colonialism), I had no idea where this path would lead, the relationships I’d build, the ways I would learn to hold space for myself and others, to stand in my truth. As this year’s closing program was appropriately titled, this has beenA Golden Opportunity I thank God for the privilege of finding beloved community and meaningful work with this “catalyst for reparations in Black Baltimore.” This phenomenal group of humans has modeled what it means to be the village. They’ve seen my little ones transform from babies to big-little kids. Together we are Blackstorytelling, public humanities, archivists, artists, activists, freedom educationists, justice-seeking/bringing, liberatory community-keeping, history (re)membering, rewriting, rethinking, undoing, remaking, we don’t end. We evolve. Commencement week traffic—> ride the train! Hoping the #MARC train schedule has more offerings as a result of their recent survey because I would love to be able to do this on a regular basis! Congrats, grads!
